Do foreigners who have embraced Islam and do not know Arabic, and who read the Qur’an translated, receive the same reward as those who read it in Arabic?

The translation of the Qur'an is not the Qur'an itself; rather, it is an interpretation of it. The Qur'an is the Arabic wording revealed to our Master Muhammad, peace be upon him. Therefore, reading a translation of the Qur'an is permissible for those in a state of major ritual impurity (junub) and for menstruating women. Whoever reads a translation of the Qur'an receives the reward of one who reads an interpretation, not the reward of one who reads the Qur'an itself. A Muslim must learn Surat Al-Fatihah because it is a pillar of prayer.
