Is there another interpretation for the Hadith in Bukhari that mentions 70,000 entering Paradise, and could this number be the total of the first three generations?

The seventy thousand who will enter Paradise without reckoning are a special group from this nation, distinguished by their avoidance of ruqyah (incantations/exorcism), cauterization, and divination, relying entirely on trust in Allah. This number is not exclusive to all those from the nation who will enter Paradise; rather, it indicates a high status. There are other prophetic glad tidings that mention that with every thousand of the seventy thousand, another seventy thousand will enter, in addition to three handfuls from Allah's handfuls. Furthermore, the people of Paradise from the nation of Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, will constitute two-thirds of the total number of the inhabitants of Paradise.
