You should not break off the engagement due to the mentioned illness, but you are permitted to either break it off or proceed with it, and the decision is left to your discretion.
It is the husband's right to prevent his wife from going out for work or for any other purpose, unless the wife stipulated in the contract her right to work and the husband agreed to it. In this case, the condition is binding on him, provided there is no violation or harm to the family in the work. If there is, then he has the right to retract the condition and oblige her to stay at home.
It is permissible for the wife to stipulate in the contract that she works outside the home, and the husband is bound by this if he agrees. It is also permissible for the husband to ask his wife to stop working after he has given her permission, if ceasing work is in the interest of the family and children.
