Is it permissible to follow the principle of "tit for tat" in dealing with others, by refusing to offer help and withholding information from them, in response to their exploitation and their concealment of information?

It is permissible to treat people in kind, but it is better to be patient, forgive, and respond to evil with good, for Allah Almighty says: "The recompense of an evil is an evil like it. But whoever pardons and makes reconciliation - his reward is due from Allah." And He says: "Repel evil with that which is better." The Hadith states: "Maintain relations with those who cut you off, give to those who deprive you, and forgive those who wrong you." Showing kindness to people and helping them is a great matter, for the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "Allah is helping the servant as long as the servant is helping his brother," and "Whoever fulfills the need of his brother, Allah will fulfill his need." Therefore, we advise the questioner to continue helping people and seek reward from Allah, and to do good to them even if they do not do good in return, for "the best of people are those most beneficial to people." The believer who does good to his relatives who cut him off and mistreat him is as if he is feeding them hot ashes, and he will continue to have a supporter from Allah against them.
