How does one distinguish between the whispers of Satan and one's own personal whispers regarding the Divine Being, and is it forbidden to detest the world because of these whispers?

Most whispers (waswasah) concerning matters of belief are from Satan, and your dislike for them is proof that they originate from him and not from your own soul, as well as proof of the presence of faith. So let the questioner be of good cheer and know that Allah will not hold her accountable for these whispers as long as she does not speak them or act upon them. Let her comply with the command of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, by saying: "Allah is One, Allah is the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, nor is there to Him any equivalent," and spitting lightly to her left three times, and seeking refuge in Allah. Then she should stop and end the whispers. If they are due to obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), it has its known treatment. And if her dislike for the world means a dislike for what distracts from Allah, then this is an excellent meaning.
