The answer

The recipients of are eight categories, as elucidated by the Holy Quran in His Almighty's saying: (As-Sadaqat (Zakat) are only for the Fuqara' (the poor), and Al-Masakin (the needy) and those employed to collect (the funds); and to attract the hearts of those who have been inclined (towards Islam); and to free the captives; and for those in debt; and for Allah's Cause, and for the wayfarer; a duty imposed by Allah. And Allah is All-Knower, All-Wise). It is not permissible to use Zakat to fund the aforementioned magazine, as it falls outside these categories. The majority of scholars hold the view that "in Allah's Cause" refers to Jihad and the expenses and equipment required by the Mujahid (fighter). If it were to mean all avenues of good, then all the other categories would have been subsumed under it.
