What is the ruling on wiping the face after the taslim?

It is not prescribed to wipe the face with the hands after concluding the prayer (taslim), as there is no established basis for that in Islamic law. As for wiping it after supplication (du'a), there is a difference of opinion. Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah preferred prohibiting it due to the weakness of the narrations concerning it, while Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar preferred permitting it and deemed the hadith to be good (hasan).
