What is the ruling on preparing alcohol in the laboratory for study purposes, knowing that not preparing it exposes the student to low grades?

Manufacturing alcohol and contributing to it are grave prohibitions. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed ten types of people in relation to alcohol. Low work performance does not justify committing forbidden acts. Alcohol may be used in the composition of medicines if the drug's formulation depends on it and no alternative exists, provided that treatment with it is permissible or necessary.
