Is it permissible to utter the name of the Palestinian city "Ramallah," or must it be replaced with the word "Ramlah" without separation?

It is not permissible to name oneself with names ascribed to Allah Almighty, except for the purpose of servitude to Him, due to the self-praise involved in such names. An example of this is the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, changing the name "Barrah" to "Zaynab". As for countries and places, the matter is less strict because there is no issue of self-praise. Therefore, there is no harm in naming a country "Bi-Ramallah" (by the grace of Allah) and similar names, as long as it does not contradict Islamic manners, because a country is an inanimate object and there is no self-praise involved.

The problem of verbal, practical, doctrinal, and moral transgressions in Islamic societies stems from weak Islamic culture and a lack of religious education. The remedy for this is to spread religious concepts, disseminate Islamic culture, give Islamic upbringing a greater share, and for the Muslim to adhere to the law of Allah.
