How many rak'ahs are in the Fajr prayer after sunrise?

If a Muslim misses the Fajr prayer until sunrise, he must make it up immediately, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Whoever forgets a prayer or sleeps through it, its expiation is to pray it when he remembers it." The number of rak'ahs for the missed prayer is the same as its original number. If he wishes to pray the regular Sunnah (supererogatory prayer) with it, that is better, in emulation of the Prophet (peace be upon him), who prayed two rak'ahs before the morning prayer after he and his companions had slept until sunrise.
