Did Gabriel begin the recitation of each verse to the Messenger with the Basmala (In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful)?

Gabriel (peace be upon him) used to descend with the Basmala to separate the Surahs. Thus, the Prophet (PBUH) and the Ummah knew the beginning and end of the Surahs by it, and he did not descend with it at the beginning of every verse.
