What about a person who wishes to be afflicted with evil so that his friends would care about him, when he is not actually ill?

The Lawgiver (Allah) forbade wishing for affliction and encouraged asking Allah for well-being. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, always asked Allah for well-being. He used to supplicate: "O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religion, my worldly life, my family, and my wealth." He forbade wishing to meet the enemy and commanded asking Allah for well-being and patience upon encounter. When the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, visited a man who wished for his punishment to be hastened in this world, he forbade him and said: "Glory be to Allah! You would not be able to bear it or endure it. Why did you not say: 'O Allah, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire'?"
