1. Is the duty of enjoining good lifted from the questioner if he advises his father or someone else only once? 2. Are the pain and psychological illnesses he experiences an expiation for him? 3. Is the questioner rewarded for what befalls him due to his patience? 4. Did this happen to the Companions or the Successors, and should the questioner fear perdition for himself? 5. What is your advice and guidance to the questioner when he sees an evil and is unable to change it?

Enjoining good and forbidding evil is not limited by a specific number but is subject to one's capability and the hope of achieving benefit. The psychological pain you experience is commendable because it stems from zeal for the faith and compassion for creation. It is among the afflictions that expiate sins and elevate ranks, as stated in the Hadith: "No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick of a thorn, but Allah expiates some of his sins thereby."

Scholars have differed on the reward for afflictions; the correct view, held by the majority of scholars, is that they expiate sins, elevate ranks, and increase good deeds. As for sadness due to a religious reason, it is a sickness of the heart, but its cause and source are praiseworthy, indicating sound faith and a living heart. Sadness alone is not beneficial; rather, it must be followed by effort and action to overcome its causes. No similar cases were reported among the Companions, but it was mentioned that Sufyan al-Thawri would see evil and not speak, which would cause him to suffer from hematuria.

You should not despair when you see an evil that you cannot change. Instead, feel Allah's decree, pray for guidance for the one committing the evil, humbly supplicate to Allah to remove the evil, praise Allah for your well-being and your inner disapproval, and divert your heart from thinking about the evil if it affects you.
