If you swear an oath of divorce concerning a matter you are certain of, and its opposite is not revealed, then divorce does not occur, because the basic principle is the continuity of the marital bond, and the breach of the oath is doubtful. However, if the opposite of what you were certain of is revealed, then there is a difference of opinion among scholars regarding the occurrence of divorce, and Ibn Taymiyyah preferred the view that it does not occur.
