However, if you were dutiful towards him during his lifetime, he most likely died pleased with you, as dutifulness and satisfaction are intertwined. Filial piety does not cease with their death, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When a person dies, all his deeds cease except for three: a continuous charity, knowledge from which benefit is derived, or a righteous child who prays for him." And among the acts of piety after death is maintaining ties with the father's loved ones. If you fell short in your dutifulness towards him while he was alive, then repent, and do not fall short in your dutifulness towards him after his death.
