Scholars differ on the age at which a daughter's حضانة (custody) ends. Some are of the view that she remains with her father until she marries, while others believe she stays with her mother. Some even give her the choice between her parents. There is no sin upon you if you choose to remain with your father, and this is not a sign of disobedience to your mother. Filial piety towards the mother does not necessitate residing with her; rather, it is achieved through visiting, serving, caring for her, inquiring about her well-being, and praying for her.
