The answer

Knowledge of the sciences is among the best acts of worship, as Almighty Allah says: "Say, 'Are those who know equal to those who do not know?'" and "Only those who have knowledge among His servants fear Allah."

The Sharia sciences are divided into those intended for their own sake and those upon which the knowledge of other sciences depends, such as linguistics and grammar, which are indispensable for anyone who wishes to understand the Sharia sciences. The correctness of the words of and the Qur'an depends on knowledge of linguistic rules.

It is impermissible to be ignorant of the science of Fiqh (jurisprudence) and its Usul (principles), the exegesis of the Qur'an, the biography of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and the biographies of his companions, especially what is personally obligatory, such as the Fiqh of worship.
