Is it permissible to hit an orphaned child who hits his mother, and what are the Islamic methods of raising children?

Islam has commanded parents to raise their children upon religion and good morals. It is permissible to hit children after the age of discernment, because before that, it is not beneficial. As for hitting a young child (3 years old), it is not permissible because it is harmful and not beneficial. It is permissible to discipline an orphan by hitting them if they reach an age where they understand punishment, and they are disciplined in the same way a child is disciplined. Proper Islamic upbringing begins with good role models from the parents and their diligence in applying the Sharia (definition), which automatically instills love and respect for religion in the child. The most dangerous aspect of upbringing is the contradiction between the parents' words and their actions, which causes the child to lose trust in their commands. Discipline through actions is better than discipline through words.
