What is the ruling on one who says that the Messenger, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, is the one who wrote the Qur’an, and that he was not illiterate but was wealthy? And is it permissible to beat him and expel him from the house?

If the son intends that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, wrote the Qur’an from himself and that it was not a revelation from Allah, then he is an apostate and disbeliever by the consensus of Muslims. He must be asked to repent, and if he does not, he is to be treated as a disbeliever. A Muslim does not inherit from him, nor does he inherit from a Muslim, his slaughtered animal is not to be eaten, and the funeral prayer is not to be offered for him if he dies.

However, if he intends that Allah taught him writing after he was illiterate, this is an incorrect and rejected statement due to Allah’s saying: "And you did not recite before it any scripture, nor did you inscribe it with your right hand. Otherwise, the falsifiers would have doubted." (29:48). The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was illiterate; he neither read nor wrote, and he had scribes who wrote for him.

As for his wealth, peace and blessings be upon him, he was the wealthiest of people in Allah and in self-sufficiency, and he did not care for worldly possessions. He preferred a subsistence living and would donate whatever he received from worldly gains after providing for himself and his family. The accounts of his biography show his detachment from worldly possessions.
