What should a celiac patient who is unable to fast due to the nature of their illness do regarding days of making up fasts and during the month of Ramadan?
If you are unable to make up (fast) now, then there is nothing upon you, and you are obliged to make up when you become able to do so. And if you are able to fast , then it is obligatory upon you; but if you are unable, then you must make up for it when you become able, due to the Almighty’s saying: "So whoever among you is ill or on a journey [during them] - then [he must make up] an equal number of other days." And you must hasten to make up the fast as soon as you are able to, to avoid sin and feeding a poor person for each day you intentionally missed. However, if the illness is incurable, then you must feed a poor person for each day you break your fast, due to the Almighty’s saying: "And upon those who are able [to fast, but with hardship] - a ransom [as substitute] of feeding a poor person."
