The religion of Abraham is Islam, for he was a monotheist, a Muslim, far removed from polytheism and its adherents, pure of heart and submissive to the command of Allah. Allah the Almighty said: "Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian, but he was a Haneef (pure monotheist) and a Muslim (one submitting to Allah). And he was not of the polytheists." (Aal 'Imran: 67) He was an excellent example in his disassociation from those who worship others besides Allah, as stated in His saying: "There has already been for you an excellent pattern in Abraham and those with him, when they said to their people, "Indeed, we are disassociated from you and from whatever you worship other than Allah. We have denied you, and there has appeared between us and you animosity and hatred forever until you believe in Allah alone." (Al-Mumtahanah: 4)
