Is it permissible to pay a sum from usurious earnings to someone who threatens harm and imprisonment?
The mentioned benefits must be disposed of by spending them on general Muslim welfare or by giving them to the poor and needy. It is not permissible for you to own or benefit from them unless you are poor and in need, in which case you may take what suffices your need. This is based on Al-Nawawi's statement: "And he may give it as charity to himself and his family if he is poor... And he may take what suffices his need, because he is also poor." It is not permissible to take from these benefits merely to give to someone who wronged you and threatened you with imprisonment, as this is considered benefiting from the benefits.
