The answer

You are not required to sacrifice an animal, feed the poor, or give charity from your money, unless you made such a vow when you sold the land. Charity is commendable in all circumstances, and it is best to consider the needs of the poor when giving it. Attention must be paid to the zakat on this money if the land was owned for trade, its value reached the nisab, and a full year passed on it; in this case, one-quarter of one-tenth of its value must be given. However, if it was not intended for sale, there is no zakat on what has passed, but if its value reaches the nisab and a full year passes on it, then zakat becomes obligatory.
