What is the ruling on borrowing an amount from donations intended for building a mosque to cover a deficit in the price of purchasing a house, with the intention of repaying it upon the sale of land offered for sale, and what is the expiation if that is forbidden?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
The money that the donor transferred to contribute to building a mosque is considered Waqf money, and it is not permissible to dispose of it except for what it was designated for. What you did is a sin, and what is obligatory upon you is to repent to Allah Almighty and hasten to return the endowed money.
