Is eating food or drinking a beverage into which a cat's hair has fallen unlawful (haram)? And is eating cat hair unlawful (haram)?

Cats are not impure (najis). The compilers of the Sunan narrated from Kabshah that Abu Qatadah poured water for his ablution, and a cat came and drank from it. He tilted the vessel for it until it drank. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, then said: "It is not impure; it is one of those that frequently circulate among you." Whatever hair falls from it is pure and does not harm if it falls into food or drink. However, it should be removed to maintain hygiene.
