Is it permissible to designate a specific place for prayer in the home?

There is no impediment to designating a place for prayer in the home. This was a common practice in the early era of Islam, where a man would set aside a place in his home to pray at times, especially if there were multiple individuals in the household, or if the home was far from the mosque and difficult to frequent, or if one felt fear when going to the mosque. This can help establish congregational prayer at home for women and children. It is reported that some Companions requested the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, to pray in their designated prayer places at home for blessings.
