Is allocating a specific place in the mosque for prayer considered Sunnah?

Designating a specific spot for prayer in the mosque is disliked (makrooh) and contrary to the Sunnah, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) prohibition against "a man making a place in the mosque his permanent spot, just as a camel makes a permanent spot." This is because it leads to corrupting consequences, including showing off (riyaa'), seeking fame, losing the pleasure of worship, and preventing others from their right to the space.

An exception to this is designating a specific spot for performing supererogatory (nafl) prayers. It has been reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to seek out a particular pillar in the mosque for prayer. This ruling is specific to mosques and does not apply to homes; thus, a man is permitted to designate a specific place for prayer in his home.
