What is the ruling on a trust (amanah) that its owners refuse to reclaim, and ten years have passed?

The trustee must safeguard the trust in a place where such trusts are typically kept and return it to its owners when requested, or when he fears its damage while in his possession. If the owners refuse to take it back, and the trustee fears accountability, he may refer the matter to the Sharia courts to compel them to take it or for the courts to dispose of it, thereby absolving himself of responsibility.
