What is the ruling on shaving an uneven beard, such that it is thick on one side and sparse on the other, and is it true that it grows with shaving?

It is not permissible to shave the beard or trim it for any reason, even if it is for its growth or to make it even. If it were permissible, a concession would have been granted for it. As for using medication to grow the beard or treat unevenness in it, if there is hope for it to grow naturally, then one should not try to intervene. However, if it is a defect and there is no hope for it to grow naturally, there is no harm in seeking treatment, especially if it is disfiguring. If it is not disfiguring, it is better not to treat it for fear that it might fall under the category of forbidden artificial hair extensions (wasl).
