What should someone do who has thick hair on one side and thin hair on the other? And should he shave his hair or not?

No action is required if the beard is thin at the beginning of its growth, as this is common. If it remains thin with age, the thin part can be treated to increase its density. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen holds that young men at the start of their beard growth should wait, and if the beard is disfigured, there is no harm in treating it. However, if it is not disfigured, it is better to let it grow naturally.

If the situation persists with a clear and bothersome disfigurement, there is no harm in taking from the denser side to even out the hair and bring the two sides closer. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen pointed out that a difference in beard density between the two sides does not permit trimming it, unless the disfigurement is severe.
