How is the inheritance of a man who died leaving one daughter and the children of a deceased full brother (two sons and two daughters) distributed?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

If a man dies and leaves a daughter and the children of a full brother (two sons and two daughters), then the daughter receives half, and the remainder goes to the full brother's sons by 'asabah (agnatic succession), based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Give the prescribed shares to those entitled to them, and what remains is for the closest male heir." The full brother's daughters do not inherit because they are from the kin (dhawu al-arham), by consensus of the scholars.
