Is it permissible to perform Tasbeeh, Istighfar, or other forms of remembrance (dhikr), such as saying "Subhan Allah as befits the essence of Allah" (Glorified be Allah as befits the essence of Allah), knowing that the intention is not to quantify, but rather it is similar to "Oh Lord, to You be praise as befits the majesty of Your countenance and the greatness of Your dominion" or "Glorified be Allah and praised be He, as many times as the number of His creation, as much as pleases Him, and as much as the weight of His Throne"?
Supplicating with what has not been authentically reported in the Sharia is not legislated, as it may lead to anthropomorphizing Allah, the Exalted.
It is obligatory to suffice with the reported supplications, among them:
1. The supplication: "Subhanallahi wa bihamdihi, adada khalqihi, wa rida nafsihi, wa zinata arshihi, wa midada kalimatihi." (Glorified is Allah and praised is He, as many times as the number of His creation, and to the extent of His pleasure, and to the weight of His Throne, and to the ink of His words.)
2. The supplication of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, when he stood for prayer: "Wajjahtu wajhiya..." (I have turned my face...) to the end of the well-known supplication.
3. The supplication: "Subhanallahi adada ma khalaqa, subhanallahi mil'a ma khalaqa, subhanallahi adada ma fil-ardi was-sama'i, subhanallahi mil'a ma fis-sama'i wal-ardi, subhanallahi mil'a ma khalaqa, subhanallahi adada ma ahsa kitabuhu, wa subhanallahi mil'a kulli shay'in, wa taqoolu: Alhamdulillahi, mithla dhalika." (Glorified is Allah as many times as He created, Glorified is Allah as much as what He created can fill, Glorified is Allah as many times as what is in the earth and sky, Glorified is Allah as much as what is in the heaven and earth can fill, Glorified is Allah as much as what He created can fill, Glorified is Allah as many times as His Book has enumerated, and Glorified is Allah as much as everything can fill. And you say: All praise is due to Allah, similarly.)
