Should a person convey offensive كلام (speech/words) about another person, heard from a third party without verifying its authenticity, to someone who wishes to marry that person?

Advice to Muslims is obligatory, especially regarding marriage. However, the advisor must be certain of what they say, and mere rumors and people's gossip are not enough, unless the person is openly committing sin. The advice should be measured, such as saying: "I advise you to ascertain the situation of this suitor, as I have heard things about him whose veracity I do not know," and not to assert what they do not know.
