Is a woman obligated to ask a man about his intention behind allusive phrases, or does the sin fall upon him?

A wife is not required to ask her husband what he meant by an allusion to divorce, as this involves undue hardship and excessive scrutiny. The husband knows best what he intended, and his word is to be accepted regarding his intention in case of disagreement. The sin of it lies with him, and Allah Almighty is aware of his intention.
