What is the meaning of the following terms: Al-Nāsikh (the abrogator) and Al-Mansūkh (the abrogated)?

Abrogation: The lifting of an earlier legal ruling by a later discourse. Were it not for this later discourse, the first ruling would have remained. It has three pillars: The abrogator (Allah and His Messenger), the abrogated (the earlier ruling), and that to which it is abrogated (the later ruling). An example of this is the obligation to fast on Ashura, which was abrogated by the obligation to fast during Ramadan.
