Does the deceased receive reward for what he leaves behind as an inheritance, or is the benefit limited to what was before his death?

Collecting wealth through trade and other permissible means is permissible, and a Muslim will be rewarded for it if they intend good by it, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, actions are by intentions, and every person will have what they intended."

People regarding the wealth of their estates are of two types:

1. Those who collect wealth with the intention of being good to their family and heirs: To enrich them and keep them from asking people, hoping thereby for reward from Allah. Such a person will be rewarded for the wealth they leave behind, based on the Almighty's saying: ﴿Is the reward for good anything but good?﴾, and based on the Prophet's, peace and blessings be upon him, saying to Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas: "Indeed, that you leave your heirs wealthy is better than that you leave them poor, begging from people." So leaving wealth for heirs brings reward to the one who collected it, because they are relatives, and charity to a relative is better.

2. Those who collect wealth out of accumulation, stinginess, and boasting, and wish that no one benefits from it after them out of envy: Such a person is to be feared for, due to the absence of a righteous intention in collecting and leaving the wealth, and their unwillingness to be good to their relatives.
