It is not permissible to delay making up for the missed fasts of until after the next Ramadan, except for a valid excuse. Whoever delays making up for them without an excuse must make them up and feed the poor as expiation for the delay. This expiation is a mudd (approximately 750 grams of rice) of the staple food of the country for each day that the make-up fast was delayed. If the delay was due to ignorance of the ruling, then there is no expiation. The expiation does not repeat with the repetition of the years of delay.
