Is it permissible to subscribe to a lawyer's insurance, which is a monthly or annual subscription paid to an insurance company to cover the lawyer's fees in case of a work-related problem or for legal consultations?

Commercial insurance in all its forms is forbidden, due to its inclusion of gharar (definition) (excessive uncertainty), gambling, and riba (usury/interest). One of its forms is lawyer’s insurance, where the insured pays money not knowing whether he will benefit from services equal to, more than, or less than what he paid. This is riba due to the disparity and delay in the exchange of money, and the fact that the money is given to the lawyer does not change this. The legitimate alternative is to establish a cooperative fund that invests in permissible ways, or whose funds are kept in a current account, and from which payments are made to the lawyer when needed.
