Whose responsibility is the maintenance of a woman whose husband died during her 'iddah?

A widow whose husband has passed away is not entitled to maintenance from the deceased husband's estate, whether she is pregnant or not. This is because she is an heir and has her legally stipulated share (one-fourth or one-eighth). Obligating maintenance for her would lead to an increase in her share beyond what is legally ordained. As for lodging, scholars have differed on this matter, and the most preponderant opinion is that lodging is not obligatory for her, as obligating it would increase her share in the estate beyond what Allah has ordained for her.
