The answer

The mentioned division of sleep is incorrect and has no basis; it is a jumble and an unnecessary affectation. Sleep is permissible, but negligence in prayer due to sleep is threatened with severe punishment, as stated in the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding the torment of one who sleeps through an obligatory prayer.

However, if someone takes the necessary measures to wake up for prayer but does not, there is no blame upon him, for there is no negligence in sleep in such a case. It is incorrect to say that whoever sleeps in gatherings of remembrance is absolutely written among the heedless.

Similarly, the statement that sleeping on the eve of Friday is a sleep of regret is incorrect, and singling out the eve of Friday for special night prayer () is forbidden. Sleeping after Fajr and after Asr is disliked, and although there is no sound evidence prohibiting it, the early Muslims (Salaf) disliked it because of the illnesses it might cause.
