What is the meaning of the Hadith: "Beware of entering upon women." It was said: "O Messenger of Allah, what about the hamw (male in-law)?" He said: "The hamw is death, the hamw is death"? What are the jurisprudential rulings derived from it and its practical examples?

Al-Bukhari and Muslim reported on the authority of 'Uqbah ibn 'Amir, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Beware of entering upon women." A man from the Ansar said: "O Messenger of Allah, what about the in-law?" He said: "The in-law is death."

Among the benefits derived from this hadith (definition) are:

1. The prohibition of entering upon women due to the temptation involved. 2. The emphasis on this prohibition specifically for the in-law (the husband's relatives other than his fathers and sons), because the danger from him is greater and the temptation more severe due to the ease of seclusion with them. 3. Based on this hadith, the principle of "blocking the means to corruption" is established, by prohibiting entering upon women to block the means to temptation and falling into forbidden acts.

Many crimes of illicit sexual relations, especially incest, result from leniency in entering upon women and secluding with them. Guardians must educate those under their guardianship to avoid mixing and to not allow relatives to enter upon their daughters, due to the temptation and evil that such actions lead to.
