Is zakat obligatory on the sum of one million nine hundred thousand dinars remaining from the price of a car inherited by orphans, knowing that the amount was six million dinars, of which three million was paid as a first installment and the rest in installments, and the mother participated in a monthly جمعية (cooperative society) to preserve the money?
Distributing the inheritance of the deceased after their death and after completing the required procedures is a priority. However, it is permissible to delay it for a good reason and with the consent of the heirs. is related to each heir's share of the car's price. Zakat is obligatory on their share, even if a portion of it is placed in an association, provided they are wealthy; otherwise, it becomes obligatory after they receive it. The same applies to the remaining amount owed by the buyer. If each individual's share of the received amount, their share of what was placed in the association, and their share of the debt expected to be repaid reaches the Zakat (the equivalent of 85 grams of gold or 595 grams of silver), and a hawl (full lunar year) passes over it from the day the car was sold, then Zakat becomes obligatory on it, which is one-quarter of one-tenth (2.5%).
