How can one deal with a brother who married a woman with whom he had a relationship while she was married, which angered the parents and caused the family to worry about the impact of this marriage?
If the brother had a relationship with a woman to the extent that she sought divorce and he married her despite his parents' prohibition, then he has committed a great sin, disobeyed his parents, and incited the woman against her husband. Although some scholars consider such a marriage invalid, the majority view it as valid.
If the woman repents and becomes upright, the brother should not divorce her. However, if she is not righteous, the brother must strive to reform her and fulfill his duty of guardianship (qawamah). If that does not work and suspicion arises, then he should divorce her.
The brother must be advised to repent, helped to attain piety () towards Allah, encouraged to associate with the righteous and listen to sermons, and frequently prayed for guidance.
