Is it permissible for the husband to reduce the number of nights agreed upon with his second wife on the pretext that she had been married before, even if she was a virgin, and is he entitled to take part of the time allocated to her for his children from the first wife?

It is advisable to be patient with the husband, to engage in dialogue and understanding with him, and to seek the help of close relatives to advise him, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, gentleness does not enter into anything but it adorns it, and it is not removed from anything but it disgraces it."

Whoever marries a virgin should stay with her for seven (nights), and a virgin is one whose hymen remains intact. If he marries a previously married woman (thayyib), he should stay with her for three (nights). Then, he should divide his time justly among his wives. The basis for division is the night, and he is not permitted to prefer one of them over another in staying overnight. He is allowed to enter the other wife's house during the day out of necessity. The wife is not obligated to waive her right for the sake of the children. If he wrongs her in staying overnight, she has the right to demand her right. If the wife is harmed by her husband, she may request a divorce, but she should consider it carefully before doing so.
