If a man marries a virgin while already having a wife, the is for him to stay with her for seven days, then return to his first wife and divide his time equally between them. It is not permissible for him to stay with the new wife for more than seven nights without the first wife's consent. If he stays with her for more than that, he must make up the extra nights only to the first wife.
