There is no explicit text in the Quran or Sunnah (definition) that links pork consumption with the loss of gheerah (protective jealousy). However, scholars, both ancient and modern, have stated that eating pork diminishes gheerah and removes a sense of honor (anafah). It engenders in the consumer morals and characteristics similar to those found in the food itself. The pig is naturally inclined towards greed and desire for forbidden acts, and it lacks gheerah over its female. Consuming it may lead to acquiring these characteristics, because humans are influenced by what they consume.
