Scholars differ regarding the prostration of forgetfulness in this situation: some are of the opinion that no prostration is required, based on the of Al-Mughirah, "If he has not yet fully stood upright, then let him sit, and there is no forgetfulness (prostration) upon him." While another group, such as the Hanbalis, hold that prostration is obligatory, the Shafi'is recommend it if the worshipper was closer to standing than to sitting. As for merely intending to stand without any actual action, no prostration is prescribed for it.
