What is the ruling on a woman engaging in self-intercourse and attempting to arouse herself, what is the way to protect her from these whispers, and what is the expiation for one who used to do that for a period of time?

A Muslim woman must protect herself from masturbation, as it involves sin and distress. She should direct her thoughts towards what benefits her in her religion and worldly life. She is not permitted to masturbate except out of absolute necessity, such as fear of zina (fornication/adultery) and inability to marry, as the author of Kashshaf al-Qina' said: "And whoever masturbates with their hand out of fear of zina or out of fear for their religion, there is no blame upon them. This is if they are unable to marry. But if they are able to marry, even a female slave, it is forbidden and they should be punished, because it is an act of disobedience." Whoever falls into this sin must repent, seek forgiveness, and resolve not to return to it. There is no expiation for her except that.
