Is it necessary to recite the opening supplication (Du'a al-Istiftah) in every prayer?

The opening supplication "Subhanaka Allahumma wa bihamdika, wa tabaraka ismuka, wa ta'ala jadduka, wa la ilaha ghayruk" (Glory be to You, O Allah, and with Your praise, and blessed is Your Name, and exalted is Your Majesty, and there is no god besides You) is a confirmed Sunnah (definition) after the Takbirat al-Ihram (definition) and before the recitation, and it is not obligatory. It is Sunnah in all prayers that include bowing and prostration, such as obligatory prayers, Sunnah prayers, Witr, Jumu'ah, Eid prayers, prayers for rain (Istisqa'), eclipse prayers (Kusuf), and Tarawih. However, it is not prescribed in the funeral prayer. It is also permissible to use other reported supplications and remembrances for the opening.
