Belief in Allah is the firm conviction in His existence, Lordship, Divinity, and Names and Attributes. To achieve belief in Allah, four matters are indispensable: 1. Belief in the existence of Allah the Almighty: This is indicated by reason and innate disposition, in addition to the textual evidences. For creatures do not come into existence by themselves or by chance; rather, they must have a Creator. 2. Belief in His Lordship (Rububiyyah): Meaning that He alone is the Lord, having no partner. He is the Creator, Owner, and Disposer of all things. 3. Belief in His Divinity (Uluhiyyah): Meaning that He is the only true God worthy of worship without any partner, and everything worshipped besides Him is false. 4. Belief in His Names and Attributes: Meaning affirming what He affirmed for Himself or what His Messenger (peace be upon him) affirmed for Him of Names and Attributes in a manner befitting Him, without distorting their meanings, or denying them (Ta'til), or likening them to the attributes of creatures (Tamthil), or seeking to define their modality (Takyeef).

Whoever fulfills these four matters has truly believed in Allah the Almighty with a sound faith.
